Itinerary

Day 1 MARRAKECH -> AIT BEN HADDO KASBAH -> ROSE VALLEY -> DADES VALLEY

• A member of our team will pick you up from your accommodations in Marrakech and we’ll travel to the Dades Valley via the High Atlas Mountains through the scenic Tizi n Tichka pass. The landscape then changes as we head south.
• We’ll stop in Ouarzazat, known as the African Hollywood, and explore the movie studios and the Taourirt Kasbah before continuing to the Dades Valley via the Rose Valley. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities for photos.
• Your accommodations for the evening will be at Hotel Xaluca Dades (includes dinner and breakfast.)

Day 2 DADES VALLEY -> TODRA GORGES -> MERZOUGA

• After breakfast at your hotel we’ll head to the Todra Valley and Gorges, passing rows of kasbahs along the valley.
• We’ll stop for a hike along the valley and into Berber villages. Then it’s on to the Todra Gorges, considered the tallest and narrowest gorges in the country.
• We then head to Erfoud, the City of Fossils, and see how fossils are collected and polished from the mountains in the area, which is known as the Paradise of Geology.
• Lunch will be in Erfoud before we head to Merzouga, on the edge of the Sahara Desert, then check into your riad, Riad Madu/Riad Nezha.

Day 3 EXPLORING THE DESERT AND A MEMORABLE CAMEL TREK

• After breakfast, you can explore Merzouga and see how the villagers irrigate their crops in an oasis.
• Then it’s on to the village of Khamlia, home to the black people who were brought to Morocco as slaves decades ago.
• You’ll be treated to a performance of their unique Gnawa music and have lunch in the village.
• Afterward, we’ll drive to the other side of the dunes where you’ll visit with a nomad family who still lives in tents, and share a glass of mint tea with them.
• Return to your riad for a rest before heading out on camels into the Sahara Desert where you will become more than just a tourist which will be the highlight of the 4 days desert tour. You’ll spend the night in tents in our comfortable desert camp, equipped with flush toilets and showers. Dinner will be served under the stars.

Day 4 MERZOUGA -> MIDELT -> IFRAN -> FES

• In the morning, your camel guide will awaken you to enjoy the beauty of the sunrise over the dunes. This experience is considered one of the trip’s highlights.
• After your breakfast in the middle of the Erg Chebbi dunes, you’ll ride your camels back to the village of Merzouga.
• Then on to Fes driving through a huge cedar forest where you might see some Barbary apes and stop in Ifran, known as a Little Switzerland.
